The Rose Window
The original Rose Window was installed at 140 West 81st street in 1892-93. This magnificent hand-crafted wood & stained glass center piece was the focal point of its building’s Romanesque Revival façade for 132 years. Unfortunately, the years have not been kind to the Rose Window and the wood frame had deteriorated to a point where it could not be restored. We assembled a team of professionals, including the finest stained glass artisans, to remove and restore the stained glass to its original condition. We also commissioned a new Honduran Mahogany (or Caoba) hand carved Rose Window frame to match the original Rose Window frame in every detail. Once completed, the new Honduran Mahogany and restored stained glass Rose Window will be installed where it belongs, as the focal point of The “Rose House” at 140 West 81st Street, NYC.
